The Chemicals Between Us

Back in my highschool days (yes, I'm that old already), I got into this band called Bush as part of the whole grunge/post-grunge wave that I was into at the time. There are many songs that I absolutely love from Bush. But I've been crunching over one in particular the past few days. It's been one of my soundtrack songs for no apparent lyrical relevance to my life currently. But it sure does keep me going to listen to it when I have a lot of work to course through in a day.

The song is called "The Chemicals Between Us". I figured I'd post something cool in here apart from the incessant rants that are already scaring certain people. Check out the music video of the song along with the song's prose.

The Chemicals Between Us
by Bush

I want you to remember
A love so full it could send us all ways
I want you to surrender
All my feelings rose today
And I want you to remain
The power of children can amaze
I'll try not to complain
I know that's a pisser baby

The chemicals between us
The walls that lie between us
Lying in this bed
The chemicals displaced
There is no lonlier state
Than lying in this bed

I want you to remember
Everything you said
Every driven word
Like a hammer, hell, to my head

The chemicals between us
The walls that lie between us
Then lying in this bed
The chemicals displaced
There is no lonlier face
Than lying in this bed

The chemicals between us
The chemicals between us
Lying in this bed

We're the hollow men
We are the naked ones
We never meant you harm
Never meant you wrong
I'd like to thank
All of my lovers, lovers, lovers, lovers, lovers

The chemicals between us
The army of achievers
Lying in this bed
The chemicals displaced
There is no lonlier state
Than lying in this bed

The chemicals between us
The chemicals between us
The chemicals

The chemicals between us

I found one of the more awesome live versions of this song. The video below is a live version done by Bush at Woodstock '99. I particularly liked this live version of the song due to their huge concert stage presentation, aside from the Woodstock crowd going absolutely nuts.

I just learnt a rudimentary version of this song on guitar just a few minutes ago. You gotta love bands like these, they make guitar noobs/wannabes like me enjoy music because of their simplistic, yet catchy nature. I'm actually trying to learn to sing and play this song at the same time (yes, my equivalent to singing in the shower once again.). It'll probably take me a few days playing and singing it a few times before I nail it down. Of course, like other songs I've learnt to play and sing, hardly anyone will ever hear it. The equivalent of singing in the shower, remember? LOL!

Thanks Bush. Learning the song on guitar provided some much needed relief from all the pressures at work today.
